Thanks Saw. Currently I just have an inflatable so I think I'm safe for now. But, I don't throw out getting a boat in the not too distant future.

With the price of Liscense , two rod stamp , ocean enhancement , bait , boat safety , gas , food water and gear etc...This has become a wealthy man's sport! If you add boat rental , what I'm spending per day amounts to a week's worth of social security.

Hueey, one of the things I ordered was an inflatable PFD for me to wear, it doesn’t count against the required PFDs I believe, but I’ll feel better wearing it. The other item I ordered was the CO2 warning stickers that are required, my boat doesn’t have them.

40 do you mean if you have a self inflating pfd you also need a sticker to say so.
🤔

In Pa n MD we have several regs about PFD's Wearing one in winter months in MD is required.
Others go by age when moving.
Not required to wear it n I never did
Last several yrs I wear it just in case.

Each state makes their own rules

I have several boating certificates, including an Italian one that I had to get to operate small craft while serving in the US Navy abroad. But since it’s California, I would just move.

Hey Grizz, the CO2 warning sticker is for the boat at the back and helm, required on motorized boats (over 15hp I believe) because the fumes can collect (inboard and outboard), hence the mandatory warning stickers at the back and near enclosed areas (in my cast the cuddy cabin).

Any 15 hp or more motorized PWC (personal water craft), includes kayaks, inflatables, canoes etc if they are motorized.

Ok I thought it was about the cartridges in the self inflatable pfd.

Never heard of a co2 sticker for fumes.
Not a bad idea. I've read about people that died from them.
Especially idling or slow trolling it can build upđź‘Ť.
My old glastron has a vented belly tank.
I regularly check to make to make sure vents remain open.
Fumes n fire danger the battery is near gas tank.
My tracker has a lid over tanks. I have a2" gap between lid n transom.

Thanks for info brother đź‘Ť

Rigrider, as long as it’s not motorized 15 hp or above you are good, according to the regs.

You’re welcome Grizz, I just wanted to throw all this out there so nobody gets stopped and cited unexpectedly. I wasn't aware of it initially when I bought the boat a few years back, and like many I’ve been boating for 40 yrs. + and the course made me aware of requirements for my boat I wasn’t aware of and taught me a variety of navigational rules and navigation aid meanings……….
