For all us California stagers who operate a boat, the new age requirement this year is 60 years or younger, next year it will be anyone operating a boat. Here’s a link to a list of certified on-line testing sites, there’s one that is free, so keep clicking until you find it. If you get stopped and don’t have it (the card or “license”) they can cite you, $100- for 1st offense, no more than $250 for 2nd and maxes out at $500.

I’m ok until next year, but went ahead and got mine and must admit I learned a few things, and ordered a few minor things for my boat that I didn’t have. It was a bit time consuming, so put aside some hours to complete. You can save and continue another day as well.

The card is only $10 and good for a lifetime.

The regs as far as age………

Wow, they are finding all kind of ways to get money from you there!
Guess they need the money so they can give it away to others.

Yup, it’s only $10 one time, worse of course if you don’t have it and they cite you. I don’t know how much they’re actually going to enforce though…….

I took the CG AUX course when I bought my new boat. I only had 20 plus years experience running boats, but I did learn a few new things.

I helped a friend here in Maryland for his boating license for a boat under 25 feet long.
Amazing what I learned in the Navy doing Helmsman on a Destroyer. LOL
Like going at a 45 degree angle on swells. LOL

40Grit can you take it on line?
My grandson took his online.
Didn't make sense to me.
They have no idea who's taking it.

Then no actual hands on test.
Next it will be virtual driving tests 👍

I read about too many fatal boating accidents this yr.

Y'all be safe our there n watch out for the crazies 👍🎣

The ones that don't are called victims.
