I used to go to the waurika Oklahoma snake Roundup all the time when I live in Texas, I'd go over and watch them hang them up, clean them and then we go over to the Catfish restaurant where they would fry the rattlesnake meat of course I'd usually order a plate of fried catfish along with coleslaw the hush puppies the whole nine yards. If you get a real good meaty piece it is really good, I really couldn't tell a whole lot of different from the catfish and a snake. I work with a guy who was a rattlesnake wrangler who would go into ranches and farms and clean out dens of rattlesnakes because they are a danger to cows and livestock and people of course. Dean sitting with me during lunch break asked me would I like some rattlesnake meat, I said sure they are already skinned because that's really the prize is a skin for making boots, belts and hat bands..Just part of being a country boy grandpa hunted and fixed lots of critters so I'd know what if you needed feed yourself and family.

The only thing a rattle snake can't do that a King/Black snake can do is eat a rattle snake.
People use to think that a Black/King snake was mating with a rattle snake, when it was killing it to eat it. LOL

I’ve eaten nearly every kind of wild game. First 5 years my life in oil fields of West Texas, then next 15 in central Texas, then next 27 in Southwest Louisiana, back to Central Texas, now back to Louisiana for 2 1/2 years. I didn’t see any mention about Turtles, Turkeys, or Wild Pigs from you guys.
I have certainly found that cooked right, just about everything tastes good when you’re hungry !! Crawfish Too !

I've had turtle 🐒 soup and it tastes great.
I'll catch and boil up some crawdads and my wife and I will enjoy them, but I have to peel them for my wife. She says they are staring at her.
Commander Bell out

Where did you find that God had cleaned the snake for you to eat? Just asking. Even, if I made the mistake of thinking that rattle snakes were clean enough to eat, I would not eat one. In the American cuisine there are too many other desirable things to eat. And besides, look how it slithers on the ground; picking up every germ and parasite. Really, wouldn't you rather have a chicken sandwich? Jokes aside , one can eat whatever they want.

The armadillo is the one I wonder about.
I've read they carry leprosy.
Also remember reading about the Leper Colonies.
I'll pass on the tiny tanks πŸ‘πŸ˜¬

IF you have Fire Ants, leave the Armadillo alone!
When they have eaten the other bugs, they will start in on the Fire Ants.
When I was living outside of San Antonio, had a big one on the property. When I saw it digging into a fire ant nest, it went on the Endangered list. It disappeared and later talking with a neighbor asked if he had seen it.
"I shot and ate it."
"What! It was eating the fire ants!"
"If I knew that I would never have bothered it!"
He had mounds 2 feet high on his property.
