I’ve been going fishing every week for the last 5 months and I haven’t caught a thing. I’ve been using recommended baits and lures and bought the right rods but still nothing. I’ve been on rivers and ponds and the sea even but I’ve had no luck at all.

Impossible to say, but you are doing something wrong.

Try to join an experienced angler and see how he does things.

Go back to saltwater, grab a pack of Fish Bites TM and you'll catch SOMETHING. I use it to catch live bait for grouper.

What season are you in? Late fall and winter fish go deep, and you likely wont have any luck from the shorelines. I can't speak for the saltwater portion, but I know the fish available changes heavily based on the season.

I agree with the other poster. See if you can find anyone local with some experience to point you in the right direction. If you have Facebook, look for local fishing groups.

I once lost confidence in my ability to catch fish. It's tough, I can still remember the day I finally regained that lost confidence. It was my birth day and my entire family had gathered to celebrate. At this point it had been months since I had caught a fish and had pretty much given up on the hobby altogether. All of a sudden, I glanced down into the water and locked eyes with this smug bastard of a fish just daring me to catch it. I went full rage mode, ripping off my shirt, and screaming like a banshee I dove headfirst into the water to catch that son of a bitch with my bear hands! It was a ferocious fight but in the end I wrestled that monster to the shore. I triumphantly held the beast over my head and felt my fishing confidence return like shot of adrenaline! It was magical. Totally worth never being allowed within 500 feet of that PF Changs. Hope your luck turns around. Happy casting

I mean if u put a worm on a hook with a bobber ur almost guaranteed to catch something on just about any pond. IMO.

You can have the worst equipment in the world and catch a ton of fish. It's about location, knowledge, and technique. Having recommended lures and the "right" rods has almost nothing to do with it.

If you really want to just catch anything then I'd suggest using bait over lures. If you're fishing a pond get some live worms, if your fishing saltwater get some shrimp stick it on a hook and throw it in. Fishing with lures is fun but if I've been out or a while and just want to get a bite this is what I do. Works every time.

mcewand03 please update your profile and add your location. Let us know where you're at so we can connect you with anglers in your area. And what type of fish are targeting? Way easier to help you out if we know these things.

Start with using live bait and build some confidence. Fishing is a learning game. Minnows and nitecrawlers attract fish and they are easy to use.
