Well guys, Ben and I got out on the river bout 0700 and to the fishin grounds bout 0730.
Was kinda cold and foggy when we started but burned off bout noon.
We managed to catch 5 fish in the morning but only kept two 19 inchers.
Bout noon we started to catch a few more and upgraded the 19 inchers to some fatter 19+ inchers. LOL.
We kept catchin fish and most were small keepers.
Finally, we caught our last two keepers that were bout 20+ inches.
All in all we caught 20 fish today and I believe at least 10 or 11 were keeper size. ( over 18") Great day out.
Caught our last 2 fish bout 2:30 pm and called it a day. Got off the water a little after 3 and got to Bens house bout 3:45.
I got on the road home bout 4 and here bout 5:15. Nothin like filletin fish in the dark.
Got all done with that and cleaned up and finally sat down in front of the computer bout 6:30.
Havin fresh fish tonight and the rest I'll give away tomorrow.
I took a pic of the 3 fish I brought home. I filleted one for Ben at the dock with my pocket knife. Then left my knife on the dock after we loaded the boat.
Y'all have a good night.
Well guys, Ben and I got out on the river bout 070... (show quote)

Great catching Ben and Steve! The fog on the bay was really bad yesterday, almost decided to terminate our trip and go back in it was so bad.

At times, it was that way out on the river. Sometimes we couldn't even see 50 yards. More like 20 yards.
It finally burned off bout noon and was beautiful and we caught fish.

Great report!!! Was an odd day, we did do a lot of scouting in sloughs we normally don't bother with. And because of high tide went all the way across the mud flat, that was an adventure and ended up on another slough back to Napa Slough. It's amazing how they are all connected. The marine layer was really thick and it was odd how it wasn't so thick on the mudflats and some of the sloughs but heave on the Napa River.

Fishing was very slow for me hooked and landed one till we found a school(s) in the early afternoon. It was the longest day we fished on river for a long time. BUT we did have a very nice day of catching in the end!

It was nice of Steve to fillet that fish for me and I did offer him my pocket knife, not expensive but very similar to his but he declined. Maybe next time! Well, MERRY CHRISTMAS (Season Greetings!) and a Happy New Year to you all!

I've got another knife to replace it on my dresser up in Tahoe.
I'll just get it next time I'm up there.

Nice going Steve! To bad about the knife, but it was only $5. I'm sure Ben appreciates the filets he got. So, looks like the best time today was on the falling tide. Were you throwing rattletraps or Argo's? Merry XMas to you and all the stagers.

Nice catch! I fished napa river today and it looks like a ghost town. Wonder which area you were fishing (not asking your secret spots, just general area)?

My wife just seasons hers with a little lemon pepper and fries it in a little oil.
Mine, we soak in Franks Hot sauce for bout 30 min and then roll in flour and fry it with the wife's.
If you like the taste of hot wings you would like the way it makes fish taste. It's not hot, just mildly flavored with the taste of the Franks.
