What's your favorite fish to fish for?
What's your favorite time of year to fish?
You prefer to fish alone or with a partner?

You don't have to answer all the questions.
Just would like to hear some answers from some of y'all. Thanks.

As if you didn't know, I prefer to fish for Stripers.
Spring and summer are nice but I think fall might be best.
I prefer to fish twice a week but have fished as many as 3 to 5 times a week when I had my own boat.
I use to fish bout 150 + days a year.
Now I'm lucky if its 40 days a year.
I think I prefer to fish with a partner, but don't mind if it's by myself either.

Look forward to seeing your answers. Thanks.🤠👍

I prefer to fish whenever I can and from my boat use artifical 99 percent of the time I target stripers like to fish alone but love taking my grandson just to watch him increase his ability to become a great and conservative fisherman and observe his surroundings
Thanks for asking the question

I fished 91 days this year.
A bit down on last year.
5 weeks in Florida 10 days in Cornwall UK
All sea fishing either from beach or piers.
The rest also in the UK mainly for carp ( best 23lbs ) tench roach pike (best 21lbs 12oz ) I also love to spend time fly fishing for rainbow trout. I had some carp on the fly, fish over 10 lbs on a 6# floating line go like a Tarpon.
I am happy to fish alone but also enjoy fishing with a friend.

I used to Live within spitting distance of Lake Erie and the Detroit River. Starting in March I would target warm water discharges for Steelhead, walleye, browns and crappie that were pulled in by the warm temps.. soon as ice out on the back bays I would fish for big Northerns, when I was not jigging up ‘eyes in the main channels of the River. About the 1st of May I would move to bays on Erie for post spawn pigs (walleyes)..I would fish probably at least 40 days in April/May. Of course I always set a few days aside for the smallies that were becoming active in this time frame as well. Usually this was with one or two fishing buddies.
My wife and I retired 4 years ago and we moved to Northern Michigan.
I do not fish as much any more, but still get out in the 25-30 day range.. probably 75% with somebody, the rest by myself.. I find myself targeting smallies almost exclusively, but still catch northerns, largemouth , and walleye.. Smallies and walleyes favor similar habitat.. I am also an avid whitetail hunter, so that takes up a couple weeks in the fall, but spread out thru October/November.

Hi there Saw,

One thing I noticed in scanning through all the responses is that the farthest south was OK. Kinda surprising to me.

I turned 80 in September and unfortunately we had to sell our Ranger boat. I kinda developed a touch of vertigo and just did not feel comfortable up front running the trolling motor. We used to fish Lake Fork about once a month in the middle of the week. It gets hit hard with multiple tournaments now and it is harder to catch fish now compared to 20 years ago.

In the late 90's I remember the time when a guide would not consider taking a picture of a 5 lb. bass. Lots of 7-9 and some 10's were being caught back then. Then that large mouth bass virus hit and F&G decided to get rid of the hydrilla, and fishing suffered. Still does.

So my wife and I fish in our ponds on our ranch and some larger ponds on our friends ranches. And I started a service to help pond owners manage their fish populations. We would catch fish (in the fall is best) and measure the length and weigh them. If the % is too small, they would be culled or moved to a new pond. The idea is to leave more food to get larger bass. Then the owner would have an idea as to what to do.

Even right now we have caught bass as we have not had but one or two mornings below freezing. So I would estimate we go a couple of times a week. And the neighbor kids love to catch bluegills that I feed catfish food to.

All the best and Merry Christmas

Great questions Saw1!
I’d love to fish a couple days a week, but can only manage that a couple 3 months out of the year. Most of that is because of Hunting Seasons and our Winter Weather. So most of my Fishing is Done from April through September.
I Prefer to Fish for Crappie, With Small Mouth a Close Second, but enjoy LM as well. And of Course I like My Ocean Trips for RockFish and Salmon.
I Prefer to Fish with a Partner or 2 as I enjoy the conversation and Stories we All have from past outing’s.
Steve, I Hope You and All our Stagers have a Great Christmas and Holiday Season!

Great topic Saw.

I want to fish a lot more in 24. I enjoy fishing with a buddy. I will go alone as well. I have had many favorites over the last several decades. I started On the Ocean at Paradise Cove ( Rockford Files site ) in Malibu. My uncle was a deckhand and always took me as a little kid. Really little. Went catfishing with uncle and dad in Minnesota. Fished Spirit Lake Iowa for panfish etc.
Fished quite a bit off piers and the Barge in Orange County Ca.
Moved to Oregon in 1993 and targeted Salmon heavily for many years. I wanted to just target LARGE species for quite awhile so that mainly included Salmon Steelhead and Sturgeon. Sturgeon became my favorite for awhile but then the laws evolved so I don’t target them much anymore. Can hardly take any home. I got pretty heavy into Sm Mouth Bass with a bunch of work buddies. We would hook 100+ a day each many days. We would go set up a base camp and put in about 5-10 miles above camp then next day we floated to 5-10 downstream. Most recently I have fallen back into one of my original loves…. Ocean Fishing.

Thanks everyone for posting here. What a great topic Saw.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We are about to head over to the kids place to eat and rip wrapping paper and play Bingo

My motto this year was catch at least one a month that way if i don't catch something I'm definitely getting back out till I do and I accomplished that.kinda prefer somebody to go,yrs ago got tired of going to lake Erie by myself, wife won't go out there.wife allways wants to go river fishing though but if there biting I get tired of taking her fish off and bating her hook,it doesn't give me much time to relax and enjoy nature!!! Merry Christmas to all!

I’m pretty much anymore fishing for stripers in spring and fall and fluke from May through September. I’ve been thinking of getting after some other species more often white perch in the winter and early spring. Tog aka Tautog when they are on rocks and wrecks and when I can get to them. Also blowfish in summer could provide some activity for the kids and they are good to eat too. I have fished salt water only over the last 6-7 years and that always takes a little more time and effort to get to my spots but that’s where my interest lies now and I’m hoping to get out fishing more in the future.
