I just read that according to science the group Queen has the top three most popular songs.
#1 We Will Rock You
#2 We Are The Champaigns
#3 BOHEMIAN Rhapsody
According to science the Saddest song is,
Sad Girls by the Sex Pistols
I have to admit that I have never heard Sad Girls and I do enjoy the top three by Queen as well as Rock and Roll All Night by Kiss.
As for as my all time saddest song. It would be
One Tin Solder from the movie Billy Jack.
The singer was Jinx Dawson and the group Covenant.
I'm curious? What are your favorite songs and saddest songs.

I donโt know that this is the saddest song I have heard, but it makes me sad whenever I hear it. Itโs called โThe Man Comes Aroundโ, sung by Johnny Cash. One of the first Marines killed in Fallujah was Michael Spear. The weekend before they shipped out, he and part of his squad were taking leave in Kingsport. I think Mike had a premonition of what was going to happen. The only music he wanted to listen to was the album with this song on it. We lost a good friend when Mike went down. Saddens me to this day.

CB, For me the saddest is LAST KISS (1960's ). The Pearl Jam remake is PDG too.
Also PRETTY PAPER ( Roy Orbison ) This is the saddest Christmas song imaginable.
One more : YOU'RE IN FOR A BIG SURPRISE ( Ray Charles ).
Favorites? Gotta give that some more thought.......

The narration at the end of Knights in White Satin. Is that poetic or just written for that song?

Too many favorites. Music and letters were our only connection to the World (USA) when I was in Viet Nam. We always listened to the radio when back inside the wire. Sit around and talk about home/wives/girlfriends; the life we missed and hoped to return to. Because of that, I can tell you almost where I was and doing what when certain songs place. I continued that till rap started. The sadist song to me was โHoneyโ by Bobbi Goldsboro. Havenโt heard it in years. Those songs of the past still raise the memories today. Some not so good, but just sayin. You donโt outlive them, I might add.
