Loose lips sink ships! If you ‘kiss and tell’ you are creating a reputation that can seriously harm you in the future. Has anyone ever confessed something they’ve done to you? Why do you think they trusted you? In my opinion it is because they think you will keep confidential information confidential. If not, they are foolish, because you have no contract to keep it confidential.

The following story I am about to tell you was totally confidential and I am revealing it now only because all the participants are deceased and will not likely be injured in any way by this disclosure.

A good friend who was much older the me was sitting on a bench waiting for a mechanic to return with a vehicle after giving it a test drive. For no reason, and our conversation had not been wandered in this direction. He told me what became a confession that when he was a kid or teenager, he was playing with two brothers. My friend and one of his friends had climbed up a slide. They were both at the top and my friend was scared the other boy would shove him off. Because of this fear, my friend shoved the other kid off, and the fall turned out to be fatal for the kid.
Why did he disclose this? I have often thought about why? And the only reason I can find is he believed I could keep a secret and would not ‘blab’ his confession.
Since he has been dead for at least twenty years, or more, I believe the information is now safe to disclose without any repercussions.

Now, I have had several, more than a few, to disclose their romantic and sexual conquests! I am a good listener, and do not know why they chose to ‘open their Kamona’! What do you think the girl will think when she hears of his telling discreet events?
Do not blab! There is nothing positive that will come from your telling such. You are disclosing intimate information that was never expected to be disclosed to the world.
I understand that one may have one too many drinks and in and conversation with others who are in similar condition, beginning to brag. It is easy to join in and then fall down a slippery slope of disclosing intimate, or confidential details. I suspect the reason others tell all, is they want to ‘smoke you’ out for details you have, and they don’t. Don’t do it, no matter how compelling the urge!
Whether in person, or in print you will never hear me disclose intimate details.
I guess I have whipped this subject enough and I think you get my point. Just Sayin…RJS

Well, Sir; I'm glad to have read your post! This IS a subject that we'd ALL "do well" to remember!
I had a boss, some 40-ish years ago, who would frequently answer an "off the wall question" with: "That's MY business!"... Ya made me think of HIM!

Loose lips sink ships! If you ‘kiss and tell’ you ... (show quote)

Here's my intimate details: 3 wives, 43 years of marriage, 26 years remaining, 18 years as a minor, 8 years in between wives. Sounds exciting, doesn't it.
