About to give up fishing... Any tips?
Yes! GPH hit the nail on the head. At this point, all the bs we throw at you ain’t gonna help! Firstly, in life as in fishing... Never give up!!! One day with a guide will help you out hugely! Pick the species of fish or style of fishing you desire, and find an experienced guide. Good luck, I hope we can all see some photos of your successes in the near future.🏄🏼♂️🎣
Dont give up if you do you will never catch anything for sure your time will come fishon.
Either take a break and then come back to it. During that time try to find a fishing buddy to learn from or learn with. As others have already suggested join a fishing club which is a great place to meet other fishing people and learn from them or hire a fishing guide after a long talk about what is going on and be honest with that person. You'll learn a lot just be sure to get the guide to teach you what and why he is doing what he is doing. The who what when where and why questions. Hate for you to give up a great recreational gift that God has giveen us. I also think your trying toooo hard to be something your not ready to be. Most of us on here have fished since we could walk and hold a cane pole.

I think hiring a professional fishing guide for just one day would change your whole outlook. Try to find a highly rated individual.
With a guide, you will learn more in a day than you will learn in a summer. You should catch a whole lot more fish, too.
After all of thisl and you have no luck try dynamite. Seriously take up golf!

Hiya. I was in the same exact boat as you but worse. Im a girl and have been enthusiastic about fishing and bought licenses for 3 years spent over $300 plus baits lures etc and in 3 years caught a total of 3 bullheads and 4 red rock crabs and 2 Dungeness crabs (yes on my pole!) all of which I had to throw back due to regulations. I was starting to get discouraged when on fb a gentleman posted that he was frustrated and ready to give up. He lived near me so I wrote him and we’ve been best fishing buds ever since and we learn together and we together talk to people on the beaches and piers about which lines or baits theyre using or if they caught anything. Me taking that one little step has opened up a whole new world of people who are very enthusiastic about it and eager to teach. I know that in California there’s an amazing youtuber called “Fisherman’s Life”
I’M SURE that if you go on his Facebook page/group and start putting yourself out there to find people to go and learn with, that you’ll find plenty of people who want to do so. Keep trying don’t give up. Look for that real down to earth people. They’re out there. Trust me tho, I’ve met people like u describe who blow you off. Not everyone’s like that tho. And u don’t wanna hang w people like that anyways.
A coworker once asked me how much money I spent on fishing equipment. He then asked how many fish I caught. I saw where he was going with that, so I asked him how much he spent on golf equipment - and how many fish did he catch. Point is, if your main focus is on catching fish rather than having a nice day outside, you'll never be satisfied.

Remember a bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work ! My tip is to first learn what the species of fish that you are looking to catch like . I'm understanding species of fish like certain temps of water , Those temps help to determine at what depth you should be fishing . The clarity of water or lack there of helps to determine the color of lure . Don't try one lure for to long , chance up to lures to see what the fish like .
If all that fails , get an article about the fish you are seeking from your favorite magazine , laminate it ,I use clear shipping tape , attach it approximately 22.375 inches from the point where the lure attaches to the main line . The result you hope to achieve is that when fish get out of school and then read your article they'll know they are supposed to bite your hook !
Good luck !

I read all the post above and I am with Grandpa. You can read articles and watch all the videos you want and still got to go where the fish are biting. The guide will not only take you there, but will show you the how to do's as well. Hands on experience is the best.
