Tree booty, who has a location they frequent for lost gear?
Nice! We recently had one installed. I’ve only found one disk so far. Note they are terrible and cause great pain when used for ultimate frisbee.

Certain spots in my local river snag a lot of lures, mostly spinners, which I pick up with a magnet attached to my wading staff. Once in a while, I post a “20 Lures for $20 Bucks” listing on Craigslist. It covers the cost of the flies I lose to overhead trees - probably the same trees the OP visits to fill his fly box.

The magnet is a great idea. I’ve considered magnet fishing my area. Could be kind of fun

A fork of my local river is lower than I’ve ever seen it, meaning that the far bank everyone casts to was a nice knee height instead of a scary torrent. The water is super clear right now so you can literally see that there were no salmon running, so I decided to do some salvaging. Found two size 5 blue fox spinners in chartreuse and pink, and more beads than I know what to do with. It’s like they were berries growing off the bushes. Pretty sad honestly, so much mono up high that I couldn’t get it all

In the condition he found it I could only guess it might be worth something, a friend of mine was fishing in a pond "Hog Pond" that was on my great grandfather's home stead, where he found n old wooden lure who's hooks were rusted off and the wood was very pithy. it was in the shape of a man and when he found it one arm was pointed straight past its head and the other one was down by it's side. after he had it dried out and coated with something to preserve it the arms would turn, when one was forward it's tongue would stick out of it's mouth and when the other one was forward the tongue would retract.
Went by my favorite lure tree Monday and only found one Hula Popper in it. It will be slow till spring when the tourist return. The tree is on a little canal across from a launch. They stand on the dock and send lures sailing into my favorite tree. I've found many great baits there.
Nothing to do with fishing. When I was young and broke, really broke, and had 2 kids to feed. I would go to the local Costco on my way home from work after a windy day and go to the fence line down wind and find about $20-30 dollars each time. People would walk out with cash and receipts in their hands, into the wind, and the fence, about 200 ft away would catch it for me.
Good to pick old fishing line so birds and other animals dont get tangled in it be a good sporsman
Love lure/bobber hunting...I dont usually find a lot but the ones I do I hang on my cave wall for all to see..!! Ever since i seen a poor duckling running with string and a plastic worm hanging from its beak Ive been very mindful rounding up peoples dang fishing line they leave behind or loose...(pats self on back)...

I live in a very touristed mountain town and many come here to flyfish. I was out fishing today and decided to check a few various trees that line a popular fishing spot. Ended up with about 12 quality flies going into my boxes.
I honestly love it. Nothing takes the sting out of getting skunked than some free bugs. I’ve a little circuit I check every few weeks that yields a fair amount of flies. Nothing too special, squirmies, copper johns, nymphs are the usual. But sometimes you find custom ties or streamers. Check those trees!
