My youngest Grandson 8 years old and his Dad are Coming to take me fishing this morning. It is a cub scout event. I won't be fishing myself just helping him (his dad doesn't fish, but the boy loves it. He caught his first catfish (a small channel) with me almost 5 years ago, and learner to cast my ultra lite spinning outfit that day. My clock is set for 4:30 we haven't fished together in Quite some time and I am excited. I got about 3 hrs sleep early but since then it has been like I was the 8 year old I'll catch a wink and startle awake and ask is it time yet!!? when I look at my clock it's only been 10 minutes since the last time. Well hang it I'm up now and time is going a little faster, at my age (77 in about a week) a feller should be over that but it has always been like that for me. Glad I'm not driving.

Looks like I could've slept in they're late. It cooled way down and a strong east wind this morning, after raining most of the night. I hope that boy slept better than I did.

Garry your not alone losing that sleep before fishing. Doesn't even matter if I went the day before that anticipation is a sleep robber. Hit the sack at 10 check the clock every 15 minutes or so to see if its time to get up. And for some reason when my feet get in the kayak, wide awake. However, don't get near that recliner when I get back. It actually talks to me. Or its that angel on my shoulder.

well we (I) had fun he fished Finally got to where he could cast and get some distance. Now I remember most of the reasons why I don't like those closed spinning real and actually learned some new ones today. Had to laugh though when he would cast right handed and try to wind with his left hand like he learned with my reel. I've got to practice on the description of that one. somehow he would cradle the rod and reach over it with his left hand and try to crank it, and with all the loose line it wouldn't pick up the line. Poor feller missed 3 good bites.

I have a lefty grandson he uses my right hand spinning reels just like I do.

Past time for me to switch a couple over for him.

Or just buy him his own.
