Earlier topic concerning shrinkage of the fish. A lot of us put ice in the cooler to keep the fish fresh and some just put water in the cooler to keep them alive.

A lot of places in Canada you can not have a live walleye in the boat, live well or cooler. It is a $500.00 fine if you do. We just break their necks and throw them in the cold Canadian water in the live well. I don't know if they would be better on ice in the cooler or not but ice is expensive in Canada if you can get it. I suppose it would depend how cold the water is.
Dumb question/ Why is ice expensive in Canada?
Eskimos have a monopoly

Because where we stay, which is on an Indian Reservation, has no gas stations, stores, bars, nothing but walleyes. We're 40 miles from any ice to purchase. We do have ice, which we packed at home, to keep our food, beer, and crawlers cold. Once we get there, which takes me 15 - 16 hours, we have a freezer but we don't mess freezing ice for the walleyes because we are only going to keep enough for the evening meal and those we are going to catch the last hour of the day, clean and then eat. We can only take 4 home, so that is not a problem. With three of us in the boat, we will always catch & release well over a 100 walleye a day. Thanks for asking.

Kinda off topic, while in Holland back in 87, I asked a waitress for icewater, she got a confused look and said I'll have to see if we have any.
They also drink warm sodas.

Well at least they didn't ask to see your ID. Can't figure that one out. Wife and I are, look, and act our age ( over 60 ) and waiters want to see ID when a mixed drink is being ordered. They must be trying to be cute.
I got asked for an I D at Whole Foods in Portland, ME for a bottle of wine a few years ago. I was 70 yrs old and looked 80 and I Don't even Drink
My other wonderment is why when you get called by the nurse to escort you to the exam room they always ask: How Are You Today? Thank God they can't read my mine. ( Just peachy I could hardly wait and chit chat with you )
Yea that was the clean version.
