Has my bass fishing hobby become an obsession... an addiction? I know to well about obsession... as a life long surfer I have , since the age of 8 been completely engulfed in the sport. I’ve lived in Center America, traveled through out the Hawaiian Islands, surfed from Oregon to Chile, and have spent a small fortune doing so. I’m 50 now. Married, own a little house at the beach and have a wonderful 6 year old daughter. Surf less. Enter bass fishing. As my secondary passion has now moved to the forefront. As I was 10,20,30 years ago, obsessed with surfing, bass fishing has now taken over that childish stoke, anticipation. Always in my mind! Wake up, bass fishing, time on my hands, watch bass fishing videos, have a good week financially, Tackle Warehouse, my garage, other than surfboards on the walls, half is stocked with rods, lures, etc. And, the best part, my wife totally gets it. Being a surfer to, she understands the obsession. I’m gonna go study a new lake im gonna fish on Navionics now 🤦🏻‍♂️🏄🏼‍♂️🎣

It sounds like you have a compulsive personality. Fret not, at least until you start feeling the need to go fishing every time you see a glass of water.😱

BF, keep on pressing forward and enjoy what passions life will allow. The time will come my friend when memories of those times will get you through the days while setting new goals. I admire your ventures and in wonderment how you could travel so much, and yet you are only 50. May the next 50+ years bring good health to enjoy just as much.

To plumbobs question; Surfers are a very resourceful type. I’d work in restaurants or construction and save $. Then, take off to where ever and live frugally. It’s amazing how far a dollar goes in a 3rd world country. In some places one could live like a King for $10-$15 dollars a day... including room and board. Once I lived in the jungle for 3 months in a 3 man Colman tent. When I returned from living in Nicaragua 10 years ago, I simply took advantage of my construction skills, busted ass, got married, got my little beach house,& got a little rental unit. And now, my wife and I work part time, surf, spend tons of time with our daughter and I sneak away twice a month to go bass fishing. Usually at Diamond Valley Lake in So Cal. 🏄🏼‍♂️🎣

Living the Life there Bf, awesome way of living you have had. Sounds like a movie could come out of that sort of like the old Grisly Adams shows. Heck they make shows out of nothing ( Seinfeld ), Castaways, mountain folk, and even junk hunting ( pickers ). Why not the life of a surfer that once lived in a jungle. Darn we all might learn something. Nice going Bass hope the Horizon brings more travels for the 3 of you.

The story isn’t over yet! It hasn’t always been so glamorous! That said, a book will be in the works when the parties over. Give me another 15 years. My new adventure is raising a daughter and being a good husband. Also, if you ask my 6 year old daughter where her favorite place is in the world, with out thought, she’ll say Mexico, when most would say Disneyland! We plan on raising her down there 3 months out of the year... School in the U.S., summers in Mexico. The story continues🏄🏼‍♂️🎣

Hell, you don't even need to actually write it ! With the software programs available today, you could just dictate it ! Were I so inclined, I could even dictate these messages on my phone ! Would be quicker and a lot less time-consuming than having to type it all out !

True but sometimes words get misunderstood by the electronics.

Good idea tho
