If a 71 yr old may humbly suggest:
Google "turmeric". It's an Asian Indian spice used in curry. No heat, but a wonderful anti-inflammatory. I won't bore you with my personal experience, except to say it works for joint and spinal pain. I take about 2 teaspoons every day and I know it if I miss a day. I manage to hide some in everything I eat or drink til I've had 2 tsp. And, it is recommended to use with a dash of black pepper, since the pepper has a compound that increases the bodies ability to absorb turmeric. For me, taste is not too strong if camouflaged. Only downside is powerful coloring agent. Turns anything yellow. But, it works for any inflammation as well as any drug. You can buy capsules (expensive) or buy in bulk (cheap) in Indian or International type stores. Google it.
Give it a couple weeks use to feel the relief.

Nice catch, Oz. My son and I spent spring break at the Ozarks when he was a junior in h.s. in 2007. We have a small camping trailer on some property near Climax Springs. We fished off some boat docks and caught a load of crappie. Cooked over an open fire and had a blast for a week. Great memory!!!

I have same problem but on three levels in lumbar spine. Affecting both legs now in addition to my back. I go to the pain doc for my shots on the 24th of this month. I use stool softners, wheat germ and prune juice to battle the pharphrumpoopin caused by the pills.
Docs, five surgeons, have refused to operate due to my heart condition. Six heart attacks, a triple bypass and nine stents...what heart condition?

tell your DR to prescribe Nucynta for pain, it worked for me years ago without constipation like other opioids did.
