Yes Eastern my back is to the wall. You taught me well master. Grasshopper has one memory cell left.
Several things probably happened to me growing up that makes me sit with my back to the wall.
Who am I kidding they still happen.
Probably for good reasons.
Like my Bandera Tower Smoker, but out of production. Found a second one on line. Old refrigerator turned upside down and gutted set for smoking lots of mullet. Eaten many smoked mullet with poor mans smoker and learnt many secretes for fine smoked fish.
Got my eye on an old round top one.

I love my XL Big Green Egg but they are about 1400$ I had a Redi Smoke electric smoker which is a 20 gal barrel smoker and for anything that would fit in it, it was fantistic I also had a very pricey offset smoker that I gavemy son-in-law when I got the BGE ceramic.
That is the one my brother inlaw had.
If you are smoking fish, then you need a smoker that will have a low temp. I have a Big Chief for that. Highly recommended for low temps as it will only get to 165. Over that and you want to consider "set and forget" (Electric or gas like MasterBuilt or CharBroil"or "tend it all day with beer in hand" (and the only way I would recommend is an offset like Horizon or Oklahoma Joe) . I have the OJ and think the Horizon is better built and will hold temp better. Also, PLEASE invest in a good "Thermoworks" thermometer.
Lots of people seem to like a Weber. You can grill and smoke on them.
I cannot find room in my hillbilly budget for any of the smokers already mentioned, but I have a Big Chief electric smoker that works great. It has 5 or 6 racks in it and is big enough for a turkey. I make jerky in it and hope to catch some fish big enough to smoke soon. I watched a video where Chef Alton Brown made a smoker out of a cardboard box and a portable electric burner if you want REAL cheap, ha ha
