When I had the boats in the Marina, we used to net them off the seawall. All the crab nets they sold were round headed and used chicken wire for the net. We lost a lot of crabs using them. I made a square frame and a nylon net. We had a lot less escapees after that.

That's my small net, I have another that's 4ft wide we use on the boat. My wife pilots, I drag the grass beds. I built that one this winter with larger mesh off plans I got from a waterman on Smith Island.
