Question about line size

So we went fishing today, she likes her new reel she didn’t like the rod that I let her use, I’m thankful for that, I gave her a different one that I rarely use so I shouldn’t miss it much, she liked that one.
I caught two she didn’t even get a bite, the two I caught were 1 and 1 1/2 pounds, no pictures,
I had a third bite but it let go, I think that one was about 30 pounds,
She got her mono line caught in the trolling motor twice,

This was brand new line and it had a leader attached
