Well, that's what it's all about. Let her fish the way she wants to.
At some point, I would still try to get her to use an open face spinnin reel of some quality. I think she would end up likin it just fine.

I know she would like it but every time I try to show her how to do it she no longer wants anything to do with it, she will eventually try one of mine and I think she will eventually start using mine more often

She won’t even let me teach her about how the drag works lol I try to explain it and she’s like oh no you do it for me,.
She’s really smart just doesn’t want to take the time to learn about some of this stuff

Good luck with it all. As long as she's happy and is enjoying herself, that's what matters.
Plus, if she's catchin fish then it's ALL good.

I wanted to get her one when she bought the zebco but she doesn’t want it, she doesn’t want to learn how to use them, I was going to pick her out a nice spinning combo that would do what she wanted

Best thing is to get her what she wants.

That’s what I always try to do (helps me stay out of the doghouse)
She almost wanted a spinning rod combo but she decided no, so I got one instead and she got the reel she wanted after checking and trying all the other reels she chose that one,
She’s retiring a reel that ( a zebco 33 ) we took to the beach once and it hasn’t worked right since, she finally wanted to replace it after going fishing Tuesday we seen this guy come up and he threw a top water like a spook maybe about 8 casts and nothing, then he switched to a umbrella rig and he caught 3 stripes in about 20 minutes, 2 big 1 small, so now she wants to do that, and also use some spoons, she didn’t want to get a rod to go with her new reel she said she can use one of mine lol so I’ll try to fix her up so maybe she can accomplish this

Well, I'm finally going to try one of the new Bait Casters. Until now all the bait casters I have used were the old Penn ones. Those now when doing boat drop and fish (Head Boats). I can cast with them but they still get backlash's sometimes.
I won't put up my Old 406 Mitchel or my old Diawa 7700 series reels for long casts and surf though.
The Mitchel back to 1970 and the 7700 to 1978. Lubed then a lot and took care of them and they still do good.
The Diawa was one of the first 20 LB drag reels back then. The 406 was one of the first High Speed reels then.
They killed so many fish over the years. LOL Even more than my old Zebco 33 back in the early 60's.
Still don't know what happened to the Zebco, maybe one of my Nephews got it. LOL
Well, I'm finally going to try one of the new Bait... (show quote)

Hi Aud I enjoy my low profile baitcasters.
Some as low as $50 a couple pushing $200.

The combos are lighter than most spinning combos.
Casters cause less stress on my wrists n hands. 👍👍

Uncle T, my wife has been a fan of Zebco reels for many years. We used to do hard core bass fishing, using spinners and crank baits, and she would ware out 2 to 3 of the Zebco 33 reels each year. Four or five years ago I started getting her the Zebco Omega and the Delta reels, and she likes them better. The bullet reel is the next step up but it's a little heavy for her, especially when we can fish ten to twelve hours a day. She has caught a number of what Nebraska calls Master Angler fish so don't let anyone put down a closed face reel. I like my spinning reels but never try to push her to use one. Happy fishing to both of you!

Finally, progress. It's gotta be very frustrating dealing with her many changes and still getting in some fishing yourself, so keep at it and try to continue to be patient. You're doing great 👍🏻, and being a super husband. Your success with spinning gear will eventually make the difference, I think. Use it as much as ya can and just let her see the results. Sooner or later she may get the idea that you know WTF you're talking about.
It might be a good idea to set her drag too loose after she gets a hookset. That should drive her a little crazy, and you can talk about it on the way home ? 🤔 .

The wife likes spincast reels they usually wind up being zebcos, yesterday she bought a zebco bullet mg , has anyone used one of these?
Any way it comes with 10lb mono and says it can be used with braids, well I’m not ready to let her have my braid so don’t tell her that part.
Anyway I’ll have to let her borrow one of my rods but she wants to throw some 2oz spoons and some lighter umbrella rigs, now the question is, what lb test “ mono “ would you put on this thing?
Looking forward to your suggestions

One thing you should check on that reel before putting braided line on it is take the front off of it and see what the line pickup pin is made out of. I know a lot of older Zebco spincast reels had a plastic pickup and that would not hold up to the abrasiveness of modern braid.

I know she would like spinning rods if she tried, but I don’t push her I just suggest it sometimes, she needs to be happy fishing with what she wants to fish with

She’s got an omega and an omega pro I would not put braid on either of those, this new one actually says you can use braid and it’s got metal pick up pins with roller bearings

I put some braid on the reel this evening 30lb and I put it on one of my rods, got a closer acquaintance with the reel and it’s pretty nice for a spincaster, it’s the bullet mg which is supposed to be like 20% lighter than the regular bullet, I put a 1/2oz bank sinker on it and did some casting also let her cast it to try it out , the drag on this one is good it was easy to adjust and stays put, the drags on her others seems to always be too loose or too tight, hard to keep them just right, I think she’s going to like this one and I think she’s going to try to steal my rod after she gets to use it for real

That's great Uncle_T.
Some people just like spincast.
I have a half dozen 33's in a drawer.

Have a Zebco HOSS 700.
Thanks to my buddy Chuckay iwas able to disassemble it clean n lube.
Hope to try it at least once.
It has absolutely no drag adjustment.

Have it spooled with 17lb mono 👍
