That's me! I've been posting a lot about my lucky outcomes because I am so excited. Thanks for all the tips and encouragement. It's really a dream come true to catch these. I wanted to have a laugh at all the dumb mistakes I've made.

Day two I dragged my keel up the boat ramp. Fellow fisherman saved me from dragging all the way up.

Day 4 tried to put the boat in with my boat straps still on. It didn't work so well. Thank God because I didn't have the boat plug in either!

Got my first big bass to the boat but hadn't picked up a net yet. Lost em!

Lost many more due to inexperience in type and test of line.

The guys at Bass Pro know me by name cause I bird nest my baitcaster three times a week.

I have hooked every finger, my knee and my toe in my first two months of real hard fishing. Reminder to self. Invest in bandaids and antiseptic and Bass Pro.

Here are a couple from last night. The bite was unbelievable last night from 5:30-dark.

Until you are really comfortable with your process, make a punch list for hooking up the boat, pre-launch, and post fishing. It will save you some damage and possibly some embarrassment. Hook up list = Lights connected, outboard motor up and brace on, chains attached, trailer jack stowed, drain plug in. Same type of list for pre-launch. One thing I learned years ago, I never leave the drain plug out. After draining or cleaning the bilge, I put the plug back in. Never have any question whether it’s in or not. Nice job on the bass too. Way to go!

Nice catching again Ryan. We all do, or have made mistakes launching and retrieving boats. The best advice I can give you is make a checklist of all the things you do at the ramp, before launching, and after pulling your boat out.
Follow your list, exactly, every time you go out. After a while it will become second nature to you. Discourage your buddies from trying to help you because you want everything done correctly, every time.
As far as fishing mistakes go, welcome to the club. Where do you think Bill Dance's blooper videos come from? Good Luck and Tight Lines.

That's right Orion! 😃
Now if we could only get the rest of the people at the ramp to do the same.

Funny WV! No, but a kayak and an ugly stick is how I got started. Maybe I should go back to that!

I am retired now and finally have the luxury of fishing only on weekdays. So, I don’t see too much of that boat ramp entertainment. But have definitely lived through it in my younger days.

I'm retired too and do the same thing, on weekdays. Somehow I still run into a few, usually when I'm waiting to haul out.....

Those Bill Dance vids are great. It's unlikely any other Pro fisherman would have the humility to release that stuff. Those bad boys are "funny" till ya do it yourself. My faves: slamming his tailgate on the rods & the best, when he leans over the edge of the dock with the battery , priceless.
