Hind sight is a unusual teacher at times.

I worked in a shop as a cabinetmaker until I was 43. I became too comfortable with the machinery. I’d put my fingers between the blade and the fence with 3” between instead of using a push stick. When I cut my finger I subconsciously placed it on the blade. Still have the scar. The OSHA blade covers back then were deadlier than the exposed blade.
Experience is the best teacher and hind sight IS 2020.

The most interesting part is that the same finger prints grew back. I thought with opening mine up I would have to get re finger printed. Nope!

Funny part now anyway was when I got to the hospital they didn't have any power other than emergency lighting. As I was walking towards the reception desk and thru a room full of people waiting to be seen. A nurse grabs me by the arm and said I could skip the registration part come with her. I think the blood soaked rag I was holding up and the pale face was a good sign I couldn't wait to long

In the back room she proceeded to fill up a dish of something clear and takes me by the hand and says this may sting a little. Let me tell you the blade cut was a piece of cake compared to the sting .

Speaking of hind sight and blade covers. No, I did not have the blade cover on, took that thing off on day 1. That mentality of I will be careful must have been out side laughing it's head off at me.

How long did it take you to get another job?

Just over 3 months for a temp position, them anover month to get one that paid what I use to make, almost.
5 years later last hired first gone. got hired in a month and worked there for another 7 years.
Technical Support is a lot like Quality Control. They don't "Make a profit" off either, so the cut them first.
Then product starts going down the tubes and "They" don't understand. You have to have a "Good Product" and good Support to spot problems in the product and get them corrected. Bean Counters just don't understand that.

Try to get past the front desk of the hospital today. I’ve been in the emergency room sitting next to some critical situations and asked the desk to move them along. Fingerprints must be like DNA. The Bible says that “God knew us before we were in our mother’s womb.” Life is important—we are all created individually.
Life is precious. Mary was an unwed mother and she gave birth to the Savior of the world!
There IS life after death. Through Jesus’ perfect sacrifice.
Choose life!
Choose Jesus!

You’re right Digger about quality control.
Manufacturers are insulated from the end user. They think their whole purpose is to get the item out of the door. They lose sight of the fact that it’s going to a person. Quality control is the MOST important part of production.
Happy to hear that you replaced your job with an equally paying position.
I remember being in traffic on i95 worried about my job and realizing that everyone around me wasn’t going to work where I work and knowing there was another job out there for me. At 43 I went into my own business which ended up great. I thought I worked hard for the other guy until I started working for myself. But, all the profits (and problems) were mine.
One of the best decisions I made in my life.
