Ooops

I called in sick once to work around the house. Sliced open 3 of my fingers on the table saw, guess I was psychic.

Was it a kickback or did you put your fingers on the blade? I cut the tip of my index finger off, put it on the blade. They sewed it back on

(psychic) - Myrna calls me “psycho”.🤣 I prefer to call it “a gift of discernment”. 🥴
(the jury’s still out)
She may be right…

Knowing you’re a man of faith I agree with Myrna.

Had a roustabout that called in sick several times a month
Every year at the start of deer season he would have a family member pass and needed 3 days off.
Always gave it to him.
Never was sure how many siblings he had but was at least 6???
Very good hand when he was there.

I worked with a guy like that. Lucky for him his good overshadowed the bad.

In 1970 I was working for a company in Denver Colorado when my grandmother died and I asked for time off to go to her funeral. The boss said ok and bring back prof of death. I did and gave him my 2 weeks notice. Got a better job with more thrust and money.

Yeah I hate being called a liar.
But when I was in high school I called my cousins high school impersonating his father and said- This is Jeff _____ father, please have him in front of the school in 15 minutes—his grandmother died.
When I pulled up in front of his school he was there. I opened the car door, he jumped in and asked “Grandma died?”
Heck no! I answered “you’ve got the day off!!

The lesson of the story is NEVER tell your friends where you work. LOL

Where I was working we had to turn in our normal Vacation requests in Jan. I put in for the 2nd and 3rd week of May. First week of May boss came to me and said I couldn't take my vacation. Told him that the reservations were already in and they should have told me back in January. Went on vacation and after I came back the company folded. Management had been told not to let people take vacation as they wouldn't have to pay the vacation they had on the books. "Unsecured Creditors" is what the employees vacation time saved up was called. No one ever got paid for that. Until then never had a problem about my vacation times.

Kick back from what I remember. Right hand was pushing and the left hand was holding what was cut already down on the table.

The blade was up above the piece of wood just enough to make the cut, but still managed to open up 3 finger tips when it pulled the board back I was holding down.

Took about 20 seconds for pain to kick in and off to the hospital I went. They pulled the skin together, stitched and bandaged and went to work the next day and I said : see I told you I was sick.

The work day ended at 3 in the afternoon, so by the end of my 2 week notice I had a new job.

You were doing the right thing. Maybe you should have used a push stick.
I remember that my finger didn’t hurt either. I was devastated about losing my finger but was relieved when the Dr said he could sew it back on.
