Got back from Tahoe Tuesday and had 2 VA Dr apts, one on Weds the 6th and today, Fri the 8th.
First one was for my right knee. They finally gave me a cortisone shot. It seems to have helped a lot. Hope it continues to improve.
Today, a different Dr and he cave me a cortisone shot in my left thumb. Hopefully it will help as much as the knee one has.
Guess the knee Dr isn't a thumb Dr. Don't know why the first couldn't do BOTH of them. OH WELL, whatever. It's done now.
Will let y'all know how much, if anymore, they help.

Hope they work for you. Didn’t work for me and had to have a total knee replacement.

I had the shots in my knees for a while and they helped get me by. I still had to end up with knee replacements, but the shots let me work a while longer.
Same thing with my back - it got me by for a few years before eventually having back fusion surgery. Gettin’ old’s the squirts! 🥴

That's the general consensus about the shots.
They aren't meant to be a permanent fix. But if you can get by for X amount of years with the shots, you might be better off.

Do your self a favor! Keep the knee as straight as possible, sitting or lying down. The fluid from the shot will travel with gravity. Same thing with the thumb. Needs to be done for the first 5 days. Doubles to triples the length of time it works. I made the wife lie down after the second one for her back. Went from 1 year on the first to going on 5 years on the second laying down a lot. Just something to think of.

Thanks man. Good to know. 👍
As long as both shots help Saw, it's a good thing.

Yeah, we'll just have to wait and see. So far, so good.

Amen Bruce. My left thumb feels better today than it has since I injured it last winter.
AND my right knee still feels better than it has in 30+ years.
SOOO, as long as these shots will work like this, I'ma take them as often as needed.
We're hopin for at least 6 months to a year at least.

Glad to hear you got some relief from the injections. I have had them in both my shoulders and they helped but did not last very long. I also use the VA for all my medical needs. All VA doctors are not as dedicated as they should be. Yes I have seen some very good doctors over the years but I would say a lot of them are just there as they begin their life as a doctor and move on to their new practice and more money! Don't really blame them though! Sometimes it's tough to get an appointment at my local clinic ,most often it's going to be 1-2 months out. If I need help right away I end up driving 60 miles to Fresno hosp. And will always be seen right away!

I've been VERY fortunate with all my Dr needs.
Most of the time I can be seen relatively soon, but not always.
However, I'm in good enough health that I can wait a couple months, if need be, for an apt.
All in all, I'm very satisfied with the VA.

Pray it all works out for you Saw.
There’s no parking at the VA hospital I go to. They’re building a parking garage where the parking lot was. Should be done by July 2025
