Hey Mark. I've never fished as far up as Corning. What's the river like up there?
Well, it's a little harder from sure. But I use to use the small shad rap in the natural shad color and get 3 and 4 pound rainboats. Trouble is the hooks were small and they would jump. And you'd lose a lot but if I was fishing from shore I'd probably use night. Crawlers are cricket with a bobber and no weight and just throw it out there. Let it sink natural. Throw the shad wrap in fast water behind boulders. Bridge piling's wherever there's a current block flat water. It doesn't work so well. And when reeling in twitch, it a lot make it look wounded.
If you're fishing for steelhead row nightcrawlers, glow Bugs Couple salmonegs
Water up and hard to fish form shore or in a boat maybe a side planet bottom bouncer in anchovies for stripers water is really discolored
I always found that a nightcrawler put through and up the line works good. Use a split shot weight as needed to adjust your drift. If it's too much, use leader and three way swivel with rubber snubber and pencil lead cut as to size needed to adjust speed of drift.
