Grass Carp are not ordinary carp. All of the stuff the guys are telling
you are probably O.K. for regular Carp but Grass carp are different.
I was just watching a program about catching Carp by a couple of guys
from England. It's pretty complicated. Even the rig is different than anything
I have seen. Go to the public library and see if you can get a book on
European Carp fishing. Lots to learn.

I live in Florida and my channel is full of grass carp.. believe me... my method works. I feed them every day around 4PM and they suck in the floating catfish pellets like vacuum cleaners. Don’t make it complicated. Use what they are eating and have fun. You will also catch channel cats and bluegill on the pellets.

I just watched a YouTube video on this subject last night. The guy took a couple of cloves of garlic, shelled them, then ran them through a garlic press until he had (maybe) 1/4 teaspoon or less. Then, he broke an egg into a small dish and mixed in the crushed garlic until he had a smooth, yellow mixture. Then, one at a time (using plastic food-safe gloves to control the aroma, I suspect) he crumbled four slices of bread one at a time into the egg while using the liquid to bind the crumbs into a very stiff dough. It didn't say for how long to do this, but at the end he had a good, stiff, moldable dough. Then he took what looked like 2/0 Octopus-style hooks, snelled them, and attached springs from ball-point pens onto the shafts of the hooks, as bait-holders. By then, I was "hooked", wanting to see some results.
He put three of the hooks on his line, with another wad of the dough strapped on like a bobber, and tossed it into the lake/river. And then, just sat there. Pretty soon, his line started to drift, and he eventually pulled in a really big grass carp.
I've never caught one my ownself, and in WA, as I understand it, they're protected so I shouldn't try. Somebody correct me, if I'm wrong about that: it was a really, really big fish.

Boiles with hair rigs. Takes practice but works.

Use WHEATIES cereal. A little water mixed with a handful of wheaties until it's a sticky glob, a small chunk on hook, hang on. Potato chips, dop a handful quickly, into water do not soak. Place in a sealed container for a few minutes until soft. Fold a chip place out on hook. It will only last for one cast. If no bites in ten minutes, rebait. Works great.

Boilies are small round balls that have a small holes in the center that you use with the hair rig. They come in different flavors. Both Carp and Catfish will eat them. Can be found on Amazon an Walmart online.
