Thinking about some shore fishing at Atwood. Any good news coming out of Atwood?
There is an old cemetery on the bank near a bridge outside of Dellroy. We always caught big bass there, along that shoreline.
That same area mentioned by caseran use to be a fun area when using ultra light tackle with flies and maggots (for crappie and bluegill). You can park and walk to the small bridge and fish off the cement down by the water and along the shoreline rocky area near that same bridge. Fishing under the bridge is good too.
My dad caught many 4 to 7#sBass out of Atwood 45 yrs ago. He caught most of his bass around the boat docks on a black jig or in the summer on the surface with a Bang o Lure. ( old school rapala) along any weed beds. That lake has gone down hill fishing wise from what it used to be. There are some big catfish and carp in Atwood and some decent saugye there by the damm.
Caseran mentioned..." That lake has gone down hill fishing wise from what it used to be."... Yes indeed. Some of the old timers there told me they used to hold walleye/saugeye tournaments back in the day. One thing that I am noticing is grass beds growing both up and out from some shore lines limiting trolling or jigging methods, shore lines that I don't remember as being grassy before now.
