How is the Walleye bite? I haven't fished Berlin in decades and I am wondering if it's worth the trip. Thanks in advance

I took my boat out there in early June. It breaks everytime I take it anywhere so we do alot of shore fishing. I heard the walleye were hot in the spring but I havnt heard anything since. I don't fish berlin much.

You will want to check the water level before you go. A few weeks ago it was way down below summer level. As far as to any bite, other than spring spawn and early post spawn it is not a productive bite, in my opinion. Perhaps others have had some success, but none that I know about.

Was catching them on a whistler jig on a drift near the Bonner launch.

Hi Jim, we might be neighbors. I’m from North Canton. You ever fish much at Leesville?

Hi jepolt, "...Ever fish much at Leesville?" Went Musky fishing a few times in the early 70's and bass fishing a time or two, never caught a fish there. Hula Poppers for bass were suppose to be the big thing at night time, but didn't work for me. lol I will say it was a dream camping there with the boat at waters edge.

I have put my pontoon boat at Leesville this past April. It is a beautiful lake and the marina is terrific. We caught some crappie and saw guys come in with bucket full of crappie. One guy and his wife had 70. I actuall helped him count them. All were in the 8 to 11 inch size. I have to learn the tricks!😊. We have caught a couple 3 pound large mouth and a few 1 to 2 pounders thru the summer. I’m learning the spots and some tricks used by guys that have been there for years and years. It’s teaching an old dog new tricks. 😁. Quite a change from fishing Lake Erie for 50 years. Where do you spend your time fishing?

I'm a neighbor, from Louisville.

I went to Leeseville last summer. Seen a bald eagle sitting on the bank. It was a racing slick but whatever 😄

Hello neighbor, this year they’re four bald eagles down there. They are magnificent animals. You do much fishing around here?

The bald eagles we seen were discarded racing slicks from a drag car.

We do alot of fishing in NE Ohio, mostly from shore. We do travel to different lakes when I have time off but try to keep it to the lakes with 40 minutes. West branch, Walbourne, Berlin, Deer creek, Atwood.

Jepolt: "...Where do you spend your time fishing?" Lately I fish mostly at Atwood for saugeye. Problem is one has to catch about 8 cigar size before you can catch a "keeper". But it is still a fun day anytime you are on the lake.
