I caught, tagged and released a blacktip shark 🦈 with a plain hook Ava A-17 in Manasquan Inlet, NJ, a few years ago, then it attacked my fluke this year.

Leopard sharks need to be 36" and other sharks in the bay have regulations also. Leopard sharks are good eating if you fillet them and then soak the meat in whole milk for 6 hours to overnight. Its best to use a barb-less hook and release most of them unless they are injured. There are very large sharks in the bay, my biggest was 440lbs. I tagged and released for 12 years and caught many over 200 lbs. Check out "Shirley the Seven Gill Shark" on you tube!!!

No size limit, I usually release anything under 70 pounds. They recommend only two sharks a day

I can’t cast out a fluke from a jetty far enough to catch a shark 🦈 lol 😝.

I've heard the same thing about blues, i think, anything that has to be soaked in anything to make it eatable is not going in my mouth, i release all the blues i catch, there are leopards in my area, but i've never caught one

Yea, sharks pee through their muscles so the meat has a sour taste unless you treat it. Ive had a Chinese restaurant make some Szechuan Leopard shark once that was great. However they eat fish at the bottom of the food chain that are full of heavy metals and pollutants hence the CPR "Catch, Picture and Release"

You don't have to. Just swim the bait out and drop it.
