Hello fellow anglers, my name is Matt and I love going out shark fishing in the bay. Live in Sacramento and love fishing for anything that swims. Just want to introduce myself and start networking with other anglers in my area.

Thanks for the share and great fish picks MB. This is a nation wide site, but plenty of users out your way. Keep posting and they will show up.

Have you ever tried eating the shovel nose? The leopard sharks are pretty good if cleaned, skinned and iced right out of the water. I find the same is true for dog fish and skate wings. If you are not an adventurous eater, just keep catching. They are fun. If it has not become illegal, there used to be some big sharks right off the mouth in Moss Landing, about 2 hours south of SF.

It is to bad that mounts do not hold their color. That skin would really be awesome tanned.

Those are both on my bucket list. Any charters you can recommend that target them. I don't think I want to target them in a boat that is not much bigger than the fish. I plan to go see my brother in Irvine sometime in the next year or two.
i don't know of any charter boats that go exclusively for shark any more. when i first started sharking, i had a 19 foot tri hull boat, no gps, just a compass. that changed when a fog bank came in one time had to use the compass, and ended up about 5 miles south of the harbor at Oceanside. bought a gps that week. i fish in a 26 foot Sea Ray now, Sharking is the best, because you take a pole and a gun, can't get any better than that, i usually shoot them right behind the gill, that puts them out of gear for about 4 or 5 minutes, time to get a rope around their tail and tie it to the boat, if possible i cut the gills to get them to bleed out faster. good luck on your bucket list
