My wife and I took a few days off in New Hampshire and while we were there took the cog railway to the top of the mountain. Mount Washington is the tallest peak in The Northeast. On a clear day you can see several states. There is also an auto road that I drove once and told myself I’d never do again. No guardrails and a new set of brakes when you’re back down.
It was super clear the day we went but at 34 degrees and 60 mph winds we didn’t venture out of the summit building for too long.
I’ll let the pictures tell the rest of the story

Thanks for the pics!

Very nice pics. Awesome view. "Cog Railway?" Reminds me of a roller coaster.
Hutch's motorcycle club took a trip up there years back. Hairy ride!!!
You are correct about the views and even more correct about the drive - which I made.
There is a picture in the observatory of horizontal icicles produced by those high winds and cold temps.
That whole area is beautiful; so different from the Gulf Coast. I just got back (yesterday) from visiting youngest daughter and family in Kodiak, Alaska (posted pics here of fishing trip last week) and it is very rugged as well. Took a plane ride around the island. See pic.
The US has sooo many beautiful places it is hard to pick top 2 or 3 - even top 10.

Beautiful shot and rugged country thanks 😊

Beautiful pictures Mark. In all these years I've never been up there. New Hampshire is a gorgeous state and probably the freest one left. Thanks for sharing buddy.
Right Fred. It is a breathtaking state. From its awesome lakes to the white mountains it has a lot to offer. The mountains feel like a smaller version of Colorado. No sales tax is a bonus. There is a lot to do compared to Vermont which is beautiful but sleepy.
Go for it! Straight up I 91 then cross over to I 93. About 5 hours from your town.

Crazy ride! A motorcycle just went off the road this year. My nephew who believes every thrill ride is lame sat in the back seat when we drove up years ago. He was so fearful he said he’d never do it again.

That is beautiful! I’ve never been Definitely more rugged. I have a friend in Alaska who recommends never getting into a private plane in Alaska. Is that the gas tank strapped to the side? 😁 Glad you made it!

We took a ride to Lake Winnipesaukee several years ago, and it was a beautiful ride. I've never made it up to the races either, Nascar or NHRA. Time goes by so fast...

“Time waits for no one and it won’t wait for me.”
At this point in my life I’m a lot more conscious of time. My father in law in his 80s would complain about waiting in line. One night in a restaurant line I asked him why?
His answer “ I don’t know how much time I have left I don’t want to spend it waiting in line “. That’s starting to make sense to me

The sense of urgency I had to get things done as I get older is gone. I've slowed down to almost a stop. My brother died in May from cancer. There's a family history. If I get it, I won't fight it. He was given six months to live. He died in a week.
Under those weather conditions, I feel blessed to not be there. Even though, I've been managing in 100+ temps, but moderate winds in Texas for several weeks now.
I've heard NH is beautiful but might prefer the pictures versus experience - ha!

I’m sorry to hear about your brother. ITT is devastating especially when you thought you’d have some time together. I lost a brother when I was 11. He was 9. It puts a negative twist in your life.
I knew a guy who was given 6 months to live and he died 15 years later.
