I can see how worms would be a BIG problem. Have a buddy in Kansas that years ago trapped some piglets. I know KDWP frowns on that sort of thing. Long of the short is kept a boar, raised it an bred back to domestic sows. We butchered the rest. No one that i know of ever did get sick

I've been told that , if captured and fed properly for a period of time, they can be eaten. A friend used to capture the babies and feed them for a couple of months. Made nice tender meat. Killed them for food on holiday festivities.

They are pigs. If you pen them up and feed them they will fatten up and be fine. They are mostly descended from escaped domestic stock but over the last decade, some Russian boars have been introduced to the mix in Texas. The problem with trying to pen them and feed them is that they are FERAL and not domesticated. That means that they will constantly be trying to escape and are not at all trustworthy and may attack you if given the chance.

They tear up some of the golf courses here in Jax. But, we have all kinds of wild life here in the city. I have had deer, turkeys, squirrels, rabbits, and all sorts of animals in my yard tearing up my flowers. No pigs as of yet but I wouldn't be surprised. Armadillos are a PITA.
Now what does this have to do with fishing? I dunno???

The boar my buddy had couldn't hardly keep it contained. Had to bury railroad ties and quarter inch plate 3' below grade
And yes it was a mean SOB

You can easily deworm any hog. Go to TS, buy a package of crystals lye. Get a 5 gal. bucket. Fill it 3/4 of whole corn, put water in it to the top of the corn in the bucket, not all the way up, corn will raise. Let it sour for a few days. Put it in your hog trough. Sprinkle the lye on the corn. It don’t take a lot of lye!!! Make SURE you have a lot of water for your hogs to drink!!! And a few days you will 🐷 porky the pig with nice curly tails!!! The old fashion way my dad showed me. Just a 💭 thought

I'd be afraid of residual lye in the meat. Is that possible?

No one got sick. You don’t give your hogs a steady diet of lye they would look 👀 like Twiggy! When they eat the corn it comes out of the butt hole, not in the meat 🥩. The worms are dead 💀. When you see the pigs 🐷 tail is curly like Porky the pig, he is ready to eat! With all of this fake meat 🥩 on the market you folks don’t know what you are putting in your guts! I’ll stick with wild hog and deer meat and salt water fish,so far!
