I’ve seen groups like that, a few times around our place, so it must not be too rare, especially when they are “in velvet”.
I imagine, when it approaches rut time, they will separate more. I’m not a deer hunter - just an observer who enjoys watching them and usually keeps a salt block out for them.
I let a couple guys hunt on our property.

Not at all. When it's not mating season it's common for bucks to form groups like that. Elk do the same.
Bachelor herds.

Not during the Summer, before their antlers harden. They hang out in bachelor groups as the does are raising the fawns.
