Hey Monk, another thought, if you have a 10-12 foot John boat. You may want to invest in a 5-6 HP motor. They will get you from fishing spots to other fishing spots. I came close to breaking the state record large mouth. If I had then the sponsors would have been very receptive. Some farm ponds have very large largemouths that have never seen a bait. That was my secret. Give it a try, most farmers don't mind if you politely knock on the door and ask. Tell them that you don't litter and won't bring any crowds. My secret was bringing my very cute 9 year old daughter. I even had a couple of the wives invite us in for cookies and milk. The girl would chat and the men would chat about the pond. I got a lot of secrets from them. Hey, it's worth a try. Let me know how it goes. If you don't have a daughter, nieces and little sisters work just as well. Some of the farmers and family became good friends. I even got invited to family BBQs and a couple of other times I got invited to be the other person on the end of the boat. Sorry about the long story but, as l said, that big bass came from a 4 acre pond.
