On a nice CALM night I wouldn't mind it. However, I'm prone to seasickness and since one can NEVER guarantee how calm the ocean will be, I might be better off not goin quite so far off shore.

On my first trip off, the seas were running 10-14 ft, with an occasional 20ft hole thrown in. The run out to the Canyon took 10hrs instead of the usual 7. By the time we got there, it was as flat as a pond with just a gentle swell all night and on the way in the following afternoon.

That's a trip I would never have made.
If it was that rough before we went out I'd cancel.
If it got that rough on the way out after I was aboard, I'd probly be sick the rest of the time I was onboard.

saw, If you use scopolamine, it will probably prevent seasickness. Requires a prescription, but it worked for me. Without it 😨🤮 .

DANG, I just had my VA checkup today. I would have mentioned it to him.
I'm still gonna write it down and ask him about it in the future. Thanks.

Fish like that would definitely give you a work out...even on big tackle, with a belt and chair to keep your body in the boat! Great photo NJ!

For one this size they leave a bent butt rod in the holder and just crank. It still takes a long time to get it in.

I caught a 325 lb bluefin tuna with a ling under a bobber in NJ a long time ago. It took 3 hours and 45 minutes to reel in on 80 lb test line. The Penn International reel got so hot that you would burn your hand if you touched it. Not fun.

I grew up fishing on Long Island Sound, first in rental boats, then in my fathers boat. Never got out into the Atlantic till we started going offshore. Late '80s early '90s. It was amazing.

Fred
My Grandfather was a avid deep sea fisherman and he would take me out on the overnight boats boat would leave at 12 midnight from the Mariana he would take me 6 times a year.
I caught my 1st Yellowtail when I was ten year's old I belive it was 30lbs.
Love the Ocean.
I was a lucky kid to have a Grandfather like him.
I have all his Penn reels and they still look like new and I still use them.
Sorry got carried away.

Very nice!! Looks like night jigging. I’m scheduled on the Excel for a 3 day in about a month.
