Hey all, newbie from NE. Kansas here. What's the best way to put new line on an open faced reel spool at the same time avoiding line twist?

what works really well for me is this, I lay the spool flat on the ground and I turn my real handle about 15 turns while holding the tip of my rod directly above the spool and about 5 feet high. After about 15 turns I lower my ride tip to about a foot above the spool and I watch the line as I do this sometimes it will twist immediately and if it does I then flip the spool over and continue to finish spooling my reel. After flipping the spool and winding another 15 turns you can lower your rod tip again and you will notice that the twist is gone. This is for spinning reels. I use another method for my bait casters. Try this and I promise it will work for you because it works for me.

For a spinning reel: Your reel lays the line down on its spool clockwise. When putting line on, lay the supply line spool of line on a flat surface such as the floor and make sure it coils off counterclockwise!
