Thanks Graywulff! I keep telling my self that even if I only catch a 1lb bass it's still a good day and the next time could be better. My time will come when I can start fishing big water and catching those 20+ pounders. But your absolutely right, for now I am just enjoying being outside and having a line in the water.
Time spent fishing can't be deducted from a person's life. 👍
The day you HAVE TO catch big fish is the day you need to find a new hobby.
Right on, life is to short.
ENJOY THE MOMENT!

This is just a fun thing for people to answer but what is your personal best fish people have caught. There are so many of us from all over the place so I thought it would be fun to hear what big fish people have caught and what they used to catch it with.
My personal best was a 400 lbs goliath grouper on the sanibel island bridge fort Myers fl 3 years ago we caught it using half a stingray it was about 15lb chunk . Absolutely amazing fight almost pulled me out of the boat a couple times. I had no idea how strong a fish that size is . Be for warned it's like being hook to a truck bumper.

For me it was a 75 lb Mako off the coast of San Diego at night. Steel leader, bloody whole body mackerel for bait. Balloon and glowstick for a bobber.
I hooked into a giant mako during my first shark tournament, 3 hours on the rod. Got it to the boat 3 times before it got under the boat and broke off.

Don't you just hate when that happens????😃 Wouldn't trade the experience for the world I bet.
For me it was January 29, 1990 on Diamond Lake in Michigan during an ice dive on SCUBA gear. Me and my buddy were chainsaw diving
(best way thru the ice) in Sail Bay
in 15’ of water when I came across a large mouth the length of my lower arm laying on its side slowly fanning his gills.
I reached out and cupped him in my hands for a moment then let him slowly swim away.
We thought that was pretty cool up to the point of realizing our wives were rope tending on the surface, and our insurances were paid up.

Mine is like a minnow in comparison, 16 lb. Lake Trout on a 1 ounce white hair body jig. With 8# test line on an ultralight. Spinning Rod.
That’s a trophy catch for sure.
I caught a 20 lbs Brown trout by hand but it can’t really count because I was working at a trout hatchery. He had his head in the bubbles in the spillway and I just snuck up behind him and slipped my hand under his belly and my other hand around his tail. A quick lift to show the crowd and back in the water.
