Not really. You can but the bite will be slow. The best way is to get bait that resembles what they feed them in hatchery. Yellow powerbait fished on the bottom works well. Be patient kick back and wait for the bite.

I cast small spoons like Kast masters and if you can find them gold and orange Fiord spoons. If trolling I vary colors on single hook spoons like silver or rainbow trout. Most sporting goods stores will advise on best colors.

Awesome thanks for the advice. Mostly been sticking to Champlain bank fishing as I can just ride my bike out a few miles to some awesome spots. Caught these on the causeway today.
