Or have you had Verdolaga / Purslane with pinto beans and Chile? They grow all over the place here, yummy

You're bringing up food my mom used to cook. Haven't had any since she passed 15 years ago. Dessert was matias.

Possibly Natillas? Made with egg whites, crema, and cinnamon? Love that one too. Wish I knew how to make it well.

I remember the bone marrow Jarhead, but my favorite was the heart and gizzards from any of the chicken’s or birds we hunted when I was a kid.

Frog legs are a favorite of mine. Morel mushrooms and Ramps in spring. Never tried dandelion. Bone marrow is also good. My Dad made cracklins, and potato pankakes when I was a kid. I make my own horseradish now that about it, but will be trying some wild lettuce and nettles this year.

My frog leg story.
It was payday so Dad took us to Seattle to eat at the Space Needle. (Rotating restaraunt). Order anything you want, he said.
I didn't know what much of what on the menu was, but frog legs were there, I liked frog legs, so that was my order.
They were served on a plate that had them stacked like a teepee in the middle of the side dishes.
Well, my first bite had me chewing and chewing and chewing? The taste wasn't that good either.
Turns out, the legs were held in the teepee shape by a big rubberband that I overlooked.

Hey Jar my wife and I giged frogs in the Imperial valley the 60s heading for the Colorado river to fish for catfish, and all I remember is they jumped around in the frying pan and they did taste like chicken with the texture of lobster. F&R?
