That's just not true. While I'm sure there isn't one answer that covers everything, I just know what I've seen many, many times with my own eyes. What I find truly incredible is how quickly they find their bed when released. No hunting or looking around, like a bullet shot right back to their bed. For the record, I rarely sight fish anymore. I learned something much better.
One last point to consider before anyone decides to take the holier than though road. Think about these seasons that have been in effect for years. There is a reason for the season... Duck/Geese, Turkey, Deer, Elk, Dove, and I'm sure there are others. If you are consistent in your convictions and are outraged by fishing spawning beds well, it's so obvious I shouldn't have to say it.

Thanks for the correction Steve, I was going by what Ive read in the Bass magazine , and I agree there should be some kind of moratorium when they are on their beds but how could it really get done ?

Excellent point Jar... like just about everything in life, it is how we behave as individuals that matters the most.

I commented earlier that saltwater fishing on the gulf seasons get closed durning spawning or as government believes the quota is caught for the year. Last year 2022 Red Grouper was closed all of DEC. So we left grouper gear home and went snapper fishing. We caught so many 30 plus inch Red Grouper in Dec it was unbelievable. We consider that a big RG as they need to be 20 sportfishing and 18 commercial. Not targeting them we released hundreds of RG and dozens of 30 plus fish. They forgot to tell the fish SEASON CLOSED.
