Well after a successful trip last week, Otto and I ventured out early yesterday morning on Lake Norman * We were on the ramp at daybreak and the sunrise on the lake was a beautiful way to start the day * Although we were constantly marking fish we couldn’t find any hybrids were feeding (at one point we were dragging 7 baits) we did manage to get into some decent spots that were pretty thick and got a lot of throw backs that were not picture worthy… here’s a couple spots that were pretty decent for spots and typical of the day. The boats going in the shop for some warranty stuff and after texting Dan these pictures, he’s going nuts… and so he’s coming up from Florida to get his boat back in the water… stay tuned! Weather forecast is taking about 80 degrees today, we may hit a record high… looks like spring is here in the Carolinas… this week anyway. * Boys it’s time to get on out there and get on the water! *

Nice catching Duck. Shorts are better than none, so still a decent day. Thanks for the pictures.

I have been fishing my whole life and there’s nothing more frustrating than coming back skunked... seems like there’s a lot of new anglers out there looking for tips from us old guys... I have no problem with sharing information. It’s always the same questions... where they biting, what were you using for bait, how deep were you fishing, what time of day were they biting, etc... my philosophy there’s plenty of fish out there to be caught and I release 99% of what I catch... if I can help someone have a better shot at catching some fish maybe someday they will help me. Tight lines!

Nice going & good philosophy!
Although dragging 7 rigs seems like a lot of work & effort.

That’s the perfect attitude to make a great Stager!!

Were you guys using planner boards? We get 3 rods per man trolling on Erie so in my little boat I’m pulling 6 at a time most of the time. It can be a challenge but once you’re dialed in things usually run smoothly.

Yes, we pull planer boards on several lakes down here in the Carolinas for stripers, we usually pull live bait but a buddy of ours has caught some decent hybrids pulling A-Riggs on planer boards... I thought it sounded nuts but why not give it a try and cause we can get 7-9 rods out.

It’s been quite awhile since I fished Lake Erie, I took my dad up there for Father’s Day and we went out of Port Clinton, we caught some nice walleyes. He passed away a couple years ago and my brother sent me his tackle box... it still had some Erie Dearies in it... see pix... you guys still using em up there?

They’ve fallen out of fashion but some of us old school guys still use them when we can. That green and white one you have there is my favorite. Growing up I used 3 lures; Erie deerie, Rooster tail, or a dare devil. I’ve caught countless fish out of Erie on the Reie Deerie. At one point the called Lake Erie a one lure lake!
