Good Morning, Hannie, and welcome to the Stage, my friend. That would be a member of the Slime dog family. Now go wash your hands in Pin-Sol, in order to kill all of the bacteria that you just put on them. 😡😡😡

Pickerel or Pike for sure. Just depends on your local lingo.. good eaters if you fillet correctly and all y-bones are removed.

From the tiny view of the side, it's a Chain Pickerel.

If you're fishing around Seaside it's no surprise you don't know what it is. Chain pickerel, smaller cousin of pike and musky and contrary to SOME opinions, fun to catch. Just watch the teeth. BTW, ALL fish have lots of bacteria on them. That's why the have that slime layer.

Looks like that Fred from the angle of the picture. Caught more than I cared to handle while targeting LMB or crappie.
Needle nose pliers or forceps help with the release - and always check your leader for frayed spots from those toothy snakes!

They are fun to catch Mickey, but if they would only jump off at the boat, it would eliminate the slime and toothy problems. Definitely check for damage to the line, or you may lose your favorite lure on your next fish.

I always encourage them to jump off at the boat, Fred, when I cut my line.
