that is a real good question. I think the problem is it is a slang term that has and is evolving so it can mean many different things to different people and groups. I think it first meant some one who had wakened up to current societal issues and hence were "woke" or had woke up. from there it evolved into a movement that "canceled " anyone that didn't agree with them or did or said something that wasn't politically correct in their way of thinking. now it is mostly used to describe someone who is on the extreme left politically, and intolerant of anyone who does not think as they think or do as they do, and through pressure force others to conform to their thinking 100% or suffer consequences.

Just because I don't agree with their agenda, doesn't mean that I can't admire their success. Those opposed to this better pay close attention.

I find the "woke" term, so beloved by Fox News and DeSantis et.al. to be indicative of the education those who so freely use it.
Consider the literal meaning...."not sleeping".
So...by that definition, those who rail against "wokeness" are what....satisfied with being "asleep and unaware of their surroundings", huh ?

I certainly hope that a more accurate term, a more definitive term, is forthcoming from those who regard ACCURACY to be fundamental, but I really don't observe any effort towards that end....just more mudslinging and misinformation about "how liberals think"....as if they ever bothered to have a cordial conversation with the "opposition" to ACTUALLY find out.

And BTW...."CANCEL CULTURE" has become much, much more of a "conservative movement"....we libs are most welcoming to diversity and an all-inclusive society...the MAGA crowd and peripheral groups are the "don't say" bunch, the "if we pretend it doesn't exist...it doesn't", promoters and loud ones.
But yeah....we libs would absolutely love to "cancel"......
