I have had exceptional success with nail polish from the Dollar Store. I have at least a half-dozen that are a "clear with glitter", in various glitter colors. The one with RED glitter is my fave, but the blue, the silver, the gold (have 2 bottles with 2 different SIZES of glitter), the orange, even black...all have good adhesion and so far, are plenty durable. Have not experienced any degradation of surface, despite the solvent (acetone) of the polish, since it dries so very quickly.
Cheap and easy.
BTW...Harbor Freight has a sweet little weighted holder with 2 articulating arms with alligator clips and a magnifying glass...less than $10, if I recall. Great helper for painting lures.

That sounds great, the glitter already suspended in the finish coat. I'm a krylon/ varithane guy. I use nail polish to glue loose wraps on the old rods. I tried dipping paint made for jigs. It wrinkled and came right off, figured I was trying too hard. Went with what I learned at work. Isopropyl for degreasing, that's all. Works for paint, fiberglass laminating, silicone, helps make a good bond. Easy on my hands and nose.
