[quote=Jarheadfishnfool]I was coming home this morning from buying fruit wood for my smoker and knock off Solo stove( CooZoom) out in the country ,and found a couple of places selling fresh laid eggs ,but different colors at $4 a dozen. I stopped and saw different variety of hens so I bought two dozen, pretty cool, white, brown, lite blue, & lite green!! So tomorrow I'm making Green Eggs & ham !!π[/quote
My neighbor across the street has a hobby farm in Central Wisconsin where he raises chickens, pigs, sheep and occasionally a steer. Him and I have always helped each other out doing things around our houses, so he keeps me pretty well supplied with all that.

Up to just a few years ago always had chickens, the main ones that lay color eggs are the Araucanas but there are other breeds that lay color eggs and through the years raise many of them. The kids call them the Easter Egg Chickens. The color of the egg has nothing to do with the favor of the egg, that comes from what they are fed or eating while running free range. Enjoy
`Id give you my opinion but it would put this thread in the attic.

Seems gross but I love home grown eggs. Why do slugs etc make eggs good?

What's gross about home grown eggs? You are what you eat, if you are a chicken slugs are great.
