Yep, my dad hit one of those a few years back in the delta while cruising twin engine V8

Just kidding it was a sand bar...your pic of Cali alligator brought back memory
Engine stalled and while trying to restart the boat we could hear a train blowing horn..lol
My dad said " #*%*T!! hear comes a train now" ...while trying to start the boat πŸ‘
