well tonight rings in a new year and in Washington state it brings in a new $.40 per gal. gas tax. Happy new year. While those driving Electric cars might be smiling what they don't realize as more drivers use less gas the government will soon be looking for a way to replace the lost Gas tax revenue and guess what? Sooner or later it will be replaced with a tax on miles driven by all vehicles including Electric ones so electric car drivers wipe that smile off your face they will be coming after you to

Electric cars should have a tax even if they are driven by someone that disagrees with any and all taxes. The reason being is they are using an infrastructure that was built with taxes. Street lights. Stop signs. Stop and go lights. Road Maintenance. Snowplows. All the things we Americans take for granted. The roads and all the maintenance didn't just fall out of the sky a million years ago. Gas tax is used just as registration fees towards the costly infrastructure that gets used by people that evade taxes as well as the rest of us that pay our way honestly through life.

Public T***sportation is a way to avoid paying registration and buying gasoline or Diesel. Might get mugged but maybe you saved a buck.

Actually the Federal as tax was supposed to be used for the road infrastructure. But "They" moved it into the General Fund to help balance the "Budget". But people don't look at history. IMO anyway

I'm one who looks at history. I found out that I90 here in Illinois as a toll road was established in 1956 as a temporary measure to pay for the construction of the road. Apparently it was terribly expensive because here we are almost 70 years later and it's still a toll road. Also the toll rate goes up every time they think they could use more money, but the funny think is the truck drivers on the cb radio all say the same thing, Illinois has the worst semi approved roads in the country. Makes me wonder where the toll money is going.

Yes, they have been suggesting taxing on miles driven for several years now. One thing the left does BETTER than anyone else, FIGURING NEW WAYS TO TAX US. Miles driven tax doesn't bother me, since I don't drive that much anymore. It is not FUN any more, just a necessity!

Right and the northeast’s electric supply rate doubled Jan 1.because of the cost of natural gas. Key word natural

So how will they track “miles driven” the honor system? Yeah, right. Just like honest tax payers…

no they will require all cars have tracking devises on them to track miles driven and where. no more toll cameras won't need them they will know when you cross a bridge or drive down a highway and at what time. will even know when you drive out of state so if that state wants to tax you they can. very much like that old book 1984

DC , That's precisely how it will be done. I guess they'll have one to plug in to your lighter plug or USB port if ya got an older car. Then they'll make it so you can't drive even your old cars, kinda like those ketone detectors work now if you're under restrictions for a DWI. Of course, you're gonna have to pay to have it installed and certified. Or, maybe they'll just make ya junk all the old cars & buy an electric vehicle. K**l 3 birds with one stone.....Read the book 1984 in high school, and scoffed @ the possibility that that stuff was even remotely realistically predicting what was coming. Took 'em a while, but we're rapidly approaching it now.
ps.. Just checked, 1984 is free to stream on the Libertarian Movie site, I got there by finding a link while searching Youtube for it. Gonna watch it now, before I chicken out, cuz big brother may be watching ME.

while I am glad it looks like they caught that
murderer in Idaho, it is sort of scary that they were able to track his whereabouts through cell towers even though he wasn't on his phone. better leave your phone home if you are going to your favorite secret fishing spot
