I remember those stools and foot measuring devices well. My mom would take myself and my 3 brothers down to Sears Roebuck or Montgomery Wards to get shoes for school just before the Labor Day weekend. She was ADAMANT about us having clean socks with no holes on our feet in our old shoes before we went!

My mom also,

I remember those, but not these. Nothing like irradiating yourself and the other patrons at the shoe store. Wonder what the life expectancy of a shoe salesman was in the 30’s to the 50’s?πŸ€”πŸ˜³πŸ˜¬

We had a department store near us in the 50s that had an x-ray machine like that. I would run up and put my feet in it just to see the bones wiggling. You could definitely tell if you had growing room in your shoes as that was important back then. If I remember correctly I got Mule Skinner shoes then. Remember the Buster Brown song.Does your shoe have a boy inside what a funny place for a boy to hide. Does your shoe have a dog in too, a boy and a dog and a foot in the shoe. Well the boy is Buster Brown and the dog is Tige his friend its really just a picture but it's fun to play pretend. Sooo...etc.

I was a shoe salesman for about 3 months hated it never understood why women always wanted to try a shoe on that they knew was a size smaller than they needed

JOJ-
Obviously, you understood more than the women about their "large understanding" that they didn't understand they had...
Did anyone understand that "foot-note"?

No one remembers the shoe store Xray machine? Put your foot in, push the button and watch while you wiggle your foot bones. Yes sir, children loved to play with it.

Musta been some wrong with the folding ruler FF. That's why you never take anyone's word on the size of their fish. Ever see a 3 foot bluegill πŸ€”πŸ€£
