18 inch is legal mutton snapper
The bottom fin tells the story, round it a lane, pointed it is a mutton. Both have dots.
I totally agree with lorafa93. The lane snapper (Lutjanus synagris) has many color phases and a dorsal black spot. The vertical bars and some other features distinguish it from mutton snappers. Lanes migrate into shallow Florida waters in the cooler months. Like other snappers, the larger ones are excellent table fare.

I was wrong. After looking at it again I have to agree with others that said that it is a Mutton Snapper.
