I felt bad for Ole when Bombardier pulled the plug on Evinrude outboards, it was a disrespect for his legacy. I've been an Evinrude fan since 1955, although I have a Johnson now - as if it makes any difference.

Any time I hear the sound of a "Big Twin", suddenly I'm a little kid again and Dad is giving me my first opportunity to take the tiller. That was one of the key moments in my life, Ole had no idea how important his work would be to kids like me.

I had never heard the story. It’s a good one. Thanks for sharing that Barnacles. It makes the story much more meaningful to me.
