If you get the chance watch the FIFA special on Netflix about the bribes involved from Russia for the 2018 WC and Qatar for this year. Unbelievable corruption in that organization. You may get the chance to go as the next one is scattered around North America.

World Cup is always in June/July. FIFA made an exception this time so a wealthy, lousy country could host and fill the pockets of the corrupt FIFA officials. Nothing new there, but Qatar, really? As far as banning beer sales, if that's what the government wants fine. But they allowed it and then banned it three days before the event. Will Qatar reimburse Budweiser for their expenses? Dirty SOB's. FIFA has lost so much respect.

Understood. But we will still aid that corruption by watching !!! No choice other than boycotting which is not fair to the players and us the fans. Just my opinion.

Not a chance it could have been held there in the Summer…it would have been 120+ degrees. Money talk$…and they have plenty!
Ecuador must not have gotten the memo about letting the home team win…

To clarify the alcohol consumption laws in Qatar, which I just researched online(doesn't mean it's all true). Alcohol is legal for non muslim residents and tourists. It must be bought through authorized dealers which the government controls. It is served in high end establishments and at Fan Fest. You can not be drunk in public or drink in public. Thus no alcohol in the stadiums. BUT Qatar, why did you allow it until three days before it started??? What a stupid place to have the world cup.

For those of you that aren't soccer fans but don't criticize our sport, THANK YOU. For those that find soccer boring, "watching paint dry is more exciting", you should give it a try. A 1-1 game in soccer can be very exciting when it's getting to the end of the game.

I guess so. I was surprised to learn no home team ever lost the opener.

My son, Bo, got TWO “free rides” there and “got” to spend three months each time. Once in 2013, and again in 2017. He said it’s hot and humid (and sandy) all the time there. Had to keep the CK-135’s in flying condition… ✈️
Here are some pics he took , stateside, while riding along on a re-fueling of The Air Force Thunderbirds.

Our daughter played from the time she was in fourth grade, through her Junior year in High School. Then when she was a senior, her coach gave her position to the daughter of Roger Morningstar, who played basketball for KU and the Boston Celtics, and was a huge supporter ($$$) of athletics at the High School. She was a good athlete, but had NEVER played “keeper” - our daughter, Kelli had been playing “goal keeper” for eight years; 2-3 in the Premier League, but we could never compete with that kind of money - nor would we ever think of buying a position for Kelli on the team. Fortunately, she understood the “politics” involved in Coach Pendleton’s decision and was able to get over it. (much easier than Myrna and I did 😩😤). Kelli was able to join the marching band for her senior year, playing the cymbals. 🙄 She had a blast and made a bunch of new friends, so it helped ease the pain of losing the sport she loved to play. ⚽️
