Why? They all cheat......just haven't been caught

I'm just going to say I have known and fished with a few great fishermen that won their fair share of tournaments without resorting to cheating, I've filled in on a few tournaments.

"everybody else does it" is how doing anything wrong gets justified....which is why the penalties need to be severe enough so that it isn't worthwhile cheating.

The fix is whipping a simple x-ray machine out and using it on all the winning fish including those who step into the winner's bracket...that really is a very reasonable fix. My wife has a portable unit in her veterinary practice that would show you everything including the guts and what they ate in their stomachs.

Just let it be known before a tournament that winning fish may be x-rayed and the cheating stops.

X-Rays might work on ok on dead fish, but Bass Tournaments are live fish. They're not going to sit still for an X-Ray. Some tournaments use a metal detector.

I would hope they are recognized everywhere by all fishermen and shunned from the sport! Imagine what kind of lives they lead their families with!!

That would fix it toute suite if they ran them all under a metal detector. The newer ones are quite powerful and I bet one of the manufacturers would donate one to the cause for advertising. Allow no access to the fish after they've been weighed and run under the metal detector.

Like my wife said” imagine how big of scum bags in everyday life they must be if they would do this in fishing tournaments!”

Side note. They eyes and steelhead are back in close. Let me know if you have some time. Tuesday and Wednesday look like good days.

Tight lines

I agree with OJ's original thought and everyone else's that they should be busted to the full extent of the law and banned from any future tournaments. Regarding metal detectors though, there are non-ferrous metals like zinc that aren't detectable, not to mention nonmetallic objects like sand, stones, etc.

I believe metal detectors will identify non ferrous metals as well. That's how they find Gold, Silver, copper, lead, etc. They all will disrupt the magnetic field generated by the detector, as will zink and tungsten.

Thanks for clarifying Fred. Never having used one, I assumed they only worked for ferrous metals.

This link leads to an article and video of some “pro” walleye anglers getting caught adding weights and fillets to the stomachs of the catch. I’ve heard of such things but never seen it proven. The other anglers are livid and I apologize for some bad words if you watch the video. All I can say is those dudes would not have made it out of the parking lot had I been fishing in the tournament. Hopefully they will be brought up on charges.
